We are dedicated to preventing modern slavery and supporting survivors of modern slavery and trafficking in the UK. Empower Her English is committed to providing English education and support to those who have been exploited and marginalised.
Every day individuals are trapped in cycles of exploitation, unable to escape due to language barriers, fear for their lives and unable to access the support of the community. With a lived experience of exploitation and experience of witnessing the varying levels of severity of modern slavery and exploitation, we understand the urgency and necessity of the interventions necessary to prevent others from enduring the same experiences.
Our mission is to provide a lifeline to those people by offering support, inclusion in the community, empowerment through English language coaching and to restore the freedom of choice.
English Coaching in the Community
Language is often the first barrier people face when trying to escape exploitation. We will provide English coaching programs tailored to the unique needs of survivors helping them communicate, integrate, and rebuild their lives in safety.
Identification and rescue
By building an extensive network and community outreach efforts, we will identify areas where exploitation is high and work to reach those trapped in its grip. We need to reach people and provide a lifeline to people who need the support of their community and services.
Restoration and Support
Survivors of modern slavery require support to heal and rebuild their lives and we will offer trauma-informed care and guidance with community integration programmes ensuring survivors have the resources and support they need to thrive.
Creating a Safe Haven, Finding freedom & Peace
Partnering with other organisations will help us find places in the community where people can feel welcome, receive support and begin their journey towards healing and independence.
To achieve our mission, we focus on the following strategies and actions:
- Personalised English language instruction: Our experienced teachers provide tailored lessons that cater to the individual needs and learning styles of each student.
- Building a sense of community: We foster a supportive and welcoming community by organizing social events, workshops, and cultural activities that encourage meaningful connections among our students.
- Providing access to essential resources: We collaborate with local organizations and businesses to offer educational materials, employment resources, and social services that help our students thrive in their personal and professional lives.
- Raising awareness and advocacy: We actively participate in community events and campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of language education and the unique challenges faced by women immigrants and refugees.
